Jenna Fischer has become best recognized for her role as Pam Beesly, the character she portrayed on The Office. For her character, she was awarded two SAG Awards in Outstanding Ensemble Comedy and also an Emmy Award for the Best Supporting Actress.
Her mother, Anne played in plays at church when she was young, which instilled a love of performance and theater in Jenna. Jenna's mom Anne used to perform in church plays when she was younger, and this instilled an interest in theater.
Following the conclusion of The Office, Fischer, a theater-trained actress returned to her origins. The Off-Broadway production of Reasons for Being Happy was directed and written by Neil LaBute, with Josh Hamilton, Leslie Bibb and Fred Weller. She went on to star in the world premiere of Steve Martin's latest play Meteor Shower, an absurdist comedy starring Greg Germann and Josh Stamberg, for a record-breaking performance at the Old Globe Theatre.
In October 2019, Fischer and The Office actor and friend Angela Kinsey launched the podcast Office Ladies on the Earwolf platform. The podcast has since become wildly popular, landing in the Top Ten globally every week and registering more than 200 million downloads in its initial two years. Office Ladies received the iHeart Radio Podcast of the Year Award in January 2021.
The Actor's Life was her first novel, and details the journey she took from St. Louis, Missouri to Hollywood, where she became an actress professionally. Her second, Office BFF's (co-authored by Angela Kinsey) is an autobiography of her best friend and their experience working in The Office.
